Bad Girls top designer

I made it through to next round over at Bad Girls Top Designer competition. This round the teacher is Bethany Kartchner really cool teacher. The assignment is to use accessories effectively in a lo with the designes rules in mind: Texture, balance, unity and harmony.

I took these pics this Summer when my DH and his crazy friends played in Mud Soccer competition. They had never done it before but they finished #3 of 24 teams ! My DH was the star in the team :-) Pretty fun.
Texture: buttons, fibers, chipboard, distressing, embossing and burlap fabric. The titleletters are made from two sets of letters and they overlap each other and are distressed.

Balance: I created balance with the 3 pics lined up together and the circles in the 2 corners keep the weight at balance. The flow is created by using repetition of color and elements thoughout the LO.
Unity: The circle shape come from the ball in the pics and I used it on the lo with circles in the corners, buttons and journaling box. Also the stars wich are the theme of the LO. My DH was the star in his team.
Harmony: The colors are pulled from the photos. I tried to take the dirt and roughness from the pics scene and keep them going on to the LO. With the distressing and the burlap.
The title is: The Mud Soccer Star

SuppliesPapers: Bazzill, Pink Paislee, American Crafts and Paper Loft. Fibers Basic gray. Distressing Ink and embossing powder Tim Holtz. Doodlebug glitter. Hambly transparancy. Rusty Pickle chipboard stars. Cricut and Stamped cartridge (title letters). Making Memories sticker letters. Buttons lansing. Journaling box silk-screened Labels. Burlap (the fabric) from the Paris Flea market BG kit.

For this challenge I painted a gorgeous butterfly chipboard I got from Scrapping Outback with Making memories paint. I used clear embossing powder on it and while it was still hot but some tulle over it. I embossed it 2 times more and then but glitter on it. It looks really cute IRL the pic is not too good. I just have to say that this line from Autumn Leaves is one of the most gorgeous line I have ever seen. Totally yummy.

I'm working on my tags for the Sassy Scraps Techniques over at NYC scraps this weekend and I'll hoping to get another one done before the night is over. This was a really cool class all about chipboard techniques. My tag looks kinda funky but I like it. The bird was a black Autumn Leaves chipboard but I removed the black color and added glitter glue and paint on it.

Supplies: Creative Imagniations paper, Heidi Swapp chipboard hearts, Autumn Leaves chipboard bird and Maya Road chipboard swirl. I used my MM distess kit for this project. Glimmer mist, Glimmer glue and paint.

This is for class #4 the assignement to make our own chipboards. This is the first time I have done my own chipboards and it was so much fun. The outcome could have been more pretty but this was my first try.

Supplies: I used Fancy pants papers, Heidi Swapp paint and a KI Memories Love Elsie sticker. For the stars I used the negative from two Rusty Pickles stars I had.

HSS DT upload

Today is an upload day over at HSS two of my fellow DT member Annita and Chris have already uploaded some fanstic projects. I love the talent over there and these girls are the sweetest.
My projects this month are a little bit cleaner, simpler then I usually do. I wanted the let the pics be the main focus on the one called Drama and the story was the main focus on The Key one.
All the supplies for these project I got from the HSS store This is a fantastic store with the best service in the World !!! I'm not kidding.
As much as I love my DD I have to admit she can be a Drama Queen. When she starts to cry it does not go unnoticed !!!! Just two pics I took of her when something really small was wrong.I did not use a black cardstock on this LO. I put it there because the scallops on the MM paper did not show up on the scan :-)
Title Drama
Supplies from HSS store:My Dearest Patterned Paper Collection from Sassafras Lass 12pk,Dearest Journal Tag Cardstock Stickers from Sassafras Lass,My Dearest Monogram Cardstock Stickers from Sassafras Lass, Pollen Dust 12x12 Stamps from Fancy Pants, Scallop Die Cut Addie Noteworthy 12x12 paper by Making Memories,Black on White Tiny Alpha Stickers from Making Memories,Fired Brick Tim Holtz™ Distress™ Embossing Powder 1oz from Ranger.
These pics of Sunneva tell a story I had to document on a LO. Here is the journaling and I tell it from her point of view. I keep an closed online diary for Sunneva were I write stories from her point of view. I basically took the journaling from that diary and used it on the LO.
Title: The Key
My mom went to Minnieapolis the other day to do some christmas shopping. Yesterday I walked in on her while she was unpacking. She was not happy seeing my in the room and said „Sunneva leave the room I‘m unpacking your christmas presents“. From that sentence the devil was loose. The next 15 mintues I tried really hard to get close to the suitcase. We laughed and had so much fun. I attacking and my mom in defence. Mom managed to get me out of the room and she locked it with a key. I watched her place the key on top of the door. I ran into my room to get my little IKEA chair and I tried to reach for the key but I was too small. Next I got few books and tried to make my self taller by standing on top of book on the chair. That did not work. My mom was laughing so hard I could not believe it. I went again in my room and started going through my toy boxes. Finally I found something I thought I could use a ballgun. I put a ball in the „gun“ and tried to shoot the key down. The ball was to heavy so this did not work. What could I do ! A ha I knew what had to be done. I went into my room and got my toy hairdryer wich has little to none power. Mom asked me what I was going to do with it. Mom !!! I said I‘m going to blow the key down ofcourse !!!!!!! Nov 2007.

Bad girls designer contest

I got throug the first cut in the Bad girls top designer contest 2008. I'm so super busy this week that tonight was really the only time I had to work on this LO. Tomorrow I have DT uploads over at HSS, I have a new class over at Scrapping Outback the teacher this week is one of my fav scrappers Iris and there will be three classes over at NYC scraps the Sassy Scraps techniques. Well I don't need to do those all these week I can leave some for the weekend. I'm meeting my lawyer friend next thursday and on friday all the managers at work will be leaving town to work together on a financial plan for next year. Then I have all the typical thing that comes along with a kid, husband and a home.
Anyhow here is my LO for class 2. The class was all about mixing at least 2 kinds of patterned paper together on a LO. I used 4 or 5 if you count the Creative Imaginations as a pp.
I almost never ever use english titles on my LO but this one sounded so much better in english then icelandic. The Taste of Nature.

Supplies: Bazzill cardstock, pp Making memories Notw Worthy, Fancy pants, Autumn Leaves, Creative Imaginations. Die cuts Jenni Bowlin. Title letters American crafts and Making memories. Chipboard Maya Road. Bling Creative Imaginations and I used a coluzzle template for the title circle and the white "scalloped" paper.

HSS Challenge and more

There is another fantastic Guest Designer this month over at HSS. Holly Pittroff has the coolest challenge over there. Here is the link for the challenge. The challenge: use at least 3 stars on a LO and alter or clue it down in two different ways.
I used one huge star as you can see and I used brads to pin it down. I also used several small stars and I embossed them.
This is a picture taken 2006. Here in Iceland we have this run called The Women's Run. I have taken Sunneva to it 4 times. This picture was taken after the run 2006. On it is me, Sunneva, my mom, my mother's sister and her husband. They are like my grandparents. Baldur (the man on the pic) past away month after this pic was taken. This pics along with other pics taken that day were the last pics ever taken of him. They mean alot to me.
Supplies: Bazzill paper it light brown, Crate pper (the brown with circles), Creative Imaginations (the green under the star) and Autumn leaves (the one in the corner), Chipboards Fancy pants, brads Queen&Co, Hambly journaling box, American Crafts letters, KI memories chipboards (flower, photo corner and butterfly) and Tim Holtz embossing powder.

Another project I had over the weekend was the first class in my Sassy scraps techniques class over at NYC scraps Our first class was all about embossing and using things around our house For that technique.

This one was a trial and error process for me. First I picked patterened paper I liked and tired to emboss the mosaic tials in my bathroom. I did not like the out come of that one and I think it's because I used PP. Then I tried cardstock and used buttons to emboss. It was ok but hard since the bottons were thick. Then I went into my DD room and looked around for some time and then I saw it the perfect thing...I took apart her Babrie Van. I pulled the door of the bathroom from the Van and used it for this project ! This was totally fun. I kinda felt like a little kid again. I used Chalk ink to highligt the embossing. The quote is from a Rusty pickle line, ribbon Basic grey and the rub ons are American Crafts.

I have also been working on my HSS design project this weekend. I have an upload next thusday and I have never been so late on my projects but they are coming along and I'll be ready to upload them.

Competitions and classes

Class #4 over at Scrapping Outback is awesome. Nicole made us cover chipboards with not so typical scrapbooking supplies.

This is my LO the title is Blue eyes.

I coverd the scalloped chipboard circle with this stuff I don't know what is called but you can see it here on the pics. The stars are Rusty pickle chipboard and I covered them with WC paper :-)

Supplies: Making memories and SEI papers. Bazzill cardstock. American Crafts thickers. Making memories letter stickers, threads and ribbon. SU chipbord I cut that one in half and Rusty pickle (stars). Doodlebug ink. Lansing buttons.
Ok so somebody would say that working more then full time, taking care of a kid and a house and being in two scrapping contest would be enough. Well that somebody does not know me !!! My Sassy scraps techniques class on NYC scraps started yesterday. The amazing scrapper Sherry Steveson is teaching us 10 sassy scraps techniques the next weeks. She is so freaking talented and she is having fantastic guest designer also to teach. I just love to learn. I have spent the most part of my life in school learning all the typical school stuff and now it's time for school of fun. Anyhow first project was to make a cover for the techniques tag book. I did this cover.

Bad Girls competiton class 1

I started scrapping 2004. Since then I have done 2 contests. Today I'm in 2 !!! How crazy am I ???

I signed up again for the Bad girls kits designer competitions. I had so much fun the last time (sure I was stressed) that I just had to do it again. The thing with this competition is that you get kicked out of school if the judges don't think you did as good as you could. I don't mind that but I would love to get through the first round. I think I got through 4 rounds last year out of 7 if I remember this right.

This first weeks lesson was about layering technique. I layered the papers and used 5 layers of paper that I distressed. I hand cut the flower border from a MME paper. The flowers are also layered. I used flowers, a jewel flower brad and a ribbon.

On the photos I added ribbon and bling.
The title is layered. I put some bling on top of the chipboards letters and the thickers overlap the chipboards. Under the title I put an overlay I don't know if that counts with the layering :-)
I added some bling on the hand cut flower border for dimensions.
I used alot of different products for this LO. The paper came almost all from BG Febuary kit. It's Bazzill and MME. Creative Imaginations. Chipboard letters Prima (BG febuary kit). American thickers. Jewel flower brad creative Imaginations. Glitz design red bling. Autumn Leaves clear stamp. Tim Holtz ink. Hambly. Making Memories sticker letters. Makming Memories ribbon. Flowers all Prima.

Rusty Pickle sept challenge

I really like all the yummy stuff from Rusty Pickle. On the Rusty Pickle blog I saw their sept challenge and desiced to do it. There is a sketch to work from and you have to use the School Daze line. I love it ! It's such a bright and colorful line. The theme is school. Since Sunneva does not start school until next year the journaling is about how I feel about the fact that she starts school after one year.
I took this pic of her this Summer and I just love it.
The title is: Kársnesskóli (the name of the school she will go to) in one year.
Journaling: It's an unreal thought that after one year you will start school. There are so many things that come into mind when I think about this fact. What will be your fav subject, How are you going to feel in school. How is your teacher going to be, what will be hard for your in school etc. Above everything else I hope and wish that you will feel good in school. School can be a tough world but also a really fun one. These are the year you will be growing up. You will change a lot. Kids often find out what they enjoy and what they love. Many meet there future best friends in school. I'm so excited for you but I also worry. In one year we are going to walk together to your new school, Kársnesskóli. It will be great.

Supplies: Bazzill cardstock, papers and chipboards (swirll and title letters (1 ÁR) Rusty pickle, Making memories letters, Tim Holtz embossing powder and Colorbox ink.

Class #3 Scrapping Outback

I don't think it would be an understatment to say that I faced my hardest challenge ever since I started scrapping today. Challenge #3 in the Scrapping Outback contest was all about distressing techniques. The amazingly talented Nicole was the teacher this week. I learnt really cool tricks this week. Her challenge was to use all 3 chipboard distressing techniques taught in the class on a lo but we also had to use the same sketch and the the thing that I had trouble with we had to use paint on the background paper. Phewwww I have never used paint direct on a scrapping paper. This challenge made me step so far out side my comfort zone.
Honestly I love the LO's that are already uploaded in the gallery. THere are so freaking talented ladies in the contest. I just love it. If this was a limination contest I would be OUT !!! Outwit, outlast and what was the last one...outplayed ??? anyhow this is what I did...be gentle :-) I saw this LO topic at Sasha's place and I thought it would be perfect for my BOM (I have not done a LO for that one in a long time) so the topic is me after 5 years.

Title: After 5 years
subtitle: I'll still be me
Journaling:
*There will be another kid in the house (and no I'm not pregnant)
* I'll be healtier and in better shape
* Still be working at VIS
* Have been to Florida
* Have meet Kathie IRL
*Everything will be done around my house

Supplies: Paper (scenic Route), Chipboard letters Tim Holtz coverd with ...don't know the english word for it, Fancy pants chipboard letters (5), American Crafts thickers, paint Making Memories and Heidi Swapp. Autumn leaves chipboard (the pink thing), Glitz design the bling, Rusty Pickle lace, Stamping Up scalloped chipboard, Daisys D rub on stiches, Heidi Swapp clock stamp, StazOn ink, Prima flowers, Q&C brad and Making Memories die cut paper.
